Artistic Director: Dallas Bergen
Choral singing has been a constant source of inspiration in his life and he strives to offer the same invaluable experience to the singers with whom he works.
Dallas received his Bachelor of Music in Secondary Education from the University of Victoria. During his university years he was a member of Chamber Singers and Prima Youth Choir and participated in a series of international tours, having served as assistant conductor in his final year. While in New York he performed at Carnegie Hall with Manhattan Concert Productions, conducted the New York Consort, and was a member of several high-calibre choirs. He has been a member of the Canadian Chamber Choir and sang with the Elora Festival Singers for the 2008 Elora Festival where he also participated in the Festival Conductor’s Workshop with renowned conductors, Stephen Layton and Noel Edison. Dallas is currently a member of The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, conducts the Harbourfront Chorus, and is the newly appointed music director at First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto. He also serves on the music panel for the Toronto Arts Council.
Prior to coming to Toronto, Dallas had long dreamt of founding a community choir for young adults and creating a community of friends and artistic collaborators. Univox is the manifestation of this vision.
